Garrigan’s is the only business displaced by the hospital to choose to relocate within the core Center City zone. The company will no longer have a retail store at its new location, which was less than 5 percent of its business.
“We hope our new office and outdoor space can serve to inspire customers to think differently about the importance of their office environment for productivity,” said Julie Garrigan, Joe’s wife and business partner.
In all, Garrigan’s is making a $1.2 million investment in Springfield, including construction, real estate and new equipment. The Garrigans even selected a local contractor, Kapp Construction. A greenspace component to the new facility includes a small, well-landscaped “park” that is being installed by Terry Fredrich of Habitat Creations of Ohio.
“It’s important to us to have a nice place for our employees to work and to add to the economic and aesthetic value of downtown Springfield,” said Julie Garrigan. “After all, we work there, too.”
