DAYTON, Ohio (April 16, 2009) - The Dayton chapter of the Public Relations Society of America awarded Wilt Public Relations a PRism Award for the ribbon cutting event it planned and conducted for client Avetec, Inc. of Springfield in the Non-Profit Special Events and Observances category.
Judges from the San Antonio chapter of PRSA described the award entry as "successful and impressive" and having "clear strategy and objectives." The event, which was held October 20, 2008, to celebrate the grand opening of Avetec's new 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art National Center for Advanced Modeling and Simulation, drew about 200 invited guests. During the event, Avetec honored retiring Congressman Dave Hobson by naming the research collaboration center the Dave Hobson Simulation and Education Center.
The event was planned and executed by a team made up of Melanie Wilt of Wilt PR (former communication director of Avetec), Sara McKinniss, Wittenberg University student and former Avetec intern, and Sarah Ammar, Mike Madero, Karleigh Spahr, Latice Strickland, Valerie Reed and Jane Balchan, all of Avetec.
Wilt and McKinniss accepted the award during the PRSA Annual Prism Awards Banquet at the Schuster Center in Dayton.
